Steps On Applying For A Medical Transcription Job

posted by Admin on Jan 30

Medical transcription the industry that renders doctors dictated reports, procedures and notes into an electronic or paper format in order to create files representing the treatment history of patients. Usually health practitioners dictate what they have done after performing procedures on patients.

    Nature of the work

A medical transcriptionist listens to recordings made by doctors and other health care professionals and transcribes them into reports, letters and other administrative material. They usually listen to recordings through headphones, using both hands to type while pausing the recording as necessary with a foot pedal. The recordings will cover a variety of medical areas, including patient histories, exam reports, consultations, autopsies and discharges. After the information is transcribed, the documents are sent back to the physician or other health professional who dictated them for review, signature and corrections. The transcribed documents are then part of the patients permanent record.

A medical transcriptionist must know medical terminology relating to anatomy and physiology, diagnostic procedures, pharmacology and treatment assessments. They should also know what medical jargon and abbreviations mean. To help with this, there are standard medical reference materials in either printed and electronic forms that transcriptionists use to identify medical terms; some of these reference materials may be found online.

    Earnings

The compensation methods for medical transcriptionists vary depending on the company. Some are paid based on the number of hours they work or on the number of lines they transcribe, while others receive a base pay per hour with incentives for extra production. Employees of transcription services, as well as independent contractors, usually receive production-based pay. Independent contractors earn more than the employed transcriptionists, but independent contractors incur higher expenses, receive no benefits, and have a greater chance of being terminated. While medical transcriptionists employed by others receive lower compensation, they do receive medical benefits and are protected by labor laws, providing them with more job security.

There are two ways to search for medical transcription jobs online or through a subcontracted transcription services. If you apply online, you become an independent contractor, while through a subcontracted transcription services you become an employee either way, your job will be entirely the same.

Here are some steps to applying online:

1.Read the form and instructions carefully before filling it out.
2.Make sure that you understand all the questions.
3.Take note of the companys layout preference like the order in which the ask for names and dates.
4.Print a copy of the form and file it for future reference
5.Never leave blank boxes your application may be rejected if it looks incomplete.
    6. If there are sections that do not apply to you, insert NA in the box.
7.Refrain from including any information that’s not specifically requested.
8.You may be required to submit an online curriculum vitae via email. This should be a condensed version of the CV you have designed.

In designing your online CV you have to remember some things:

Include your CV in the body of the text as it is similar to an email.
    Keep it short and concise.
Make sure that you use a clear, readable font since it will be read on screen.
Your email address should appear first, then your home address, which should be placed at the bottom of your details section.
Don’t forget to add your skills, qualifications and experiences.
Always fill in the subject line clearly. Example: Vacancy: (position desired)

The steps for applying for jobs in transcription services is similar to applying for any type of job. The only difference is that you’re required to have good typing listening skills. There are tests given when applying for transcription positions to test your listening and typing skills.

    Six Sigma Jobs

posted by Admin on Jan 23

The demand for people with Six Sigma expertise is constantly increasing. More and more organizations are discovering the many ways that the Six Sigma methodology can help them grow and improve. As Six Sigma spreads to many different industries beyond its genesis in manufacturing, you can now find many service and government organizations advertising for Six Sigma help. Plus, it is no longer the largest corporations looking for Six Sigma help. Smaller companies also are taking on Six Sigma projects and hiring people as consultants or permanent staff. The need for full-time Six Sigma professionals will only increase.

    Types of Six Sigma Jobs
There are many Six Sigma jobs in many industries at junior and senior levels. The positions have descriptions and requirements unique to that organization and its requirements. It is true that many Six Sigma positions are filled internally as organizations train their own people already familiar with the organizations culture in Six Sigma skills. However, organizations frequently reach outside to add personnel with Six Sigma expertise to lead Six Sigma projects or even the full-scale implementation of Six Sigma throughout the organization. These positions are usually dedicated full-time to Six Sigma projects.

Six Sigma jobs are advertised under many titles, not always as obvious as Six Sigma Black Belt, Six Sigma Consultant, or Six Sigma Analyst. Other possible titles include things like Functional Project Lead Six Sigma Program Manager, Lead AnalystProject Manager, Director of Operational Excellence, Business Process Manager, or Senior Projects Manager. Whatever the exact title, the organization is looking for someone with the skills of a Six Sigma Black Belt. A Black Belt is an individual trained in the Six Sigma methodology and experienced leading cross-functional process improvement teams. They will lead individual Six Sigma projects.

Very senior Six Sigma positions are sometimes advertised. These are Master Black Belts, individuals trained in the Six Sigma methodology who acts as the organization-wide Six Sigma program manager. They will lead Six Sigma implementation at the organization and will oversee Black Belts and process improvement projects and provides guidance to Black Belts as required. Master Black Belt positions understandably demand the highest level of Six Sigma experience and qualifications.

    Qualifying for Six Sigma Jobs
To be considered for a Six Sigma job, you need a combination of relevant academic and work experience. The first and foremost qualification is to be trained in Six Sigma, ideally as a certified Six Sigma Black Belt. This means formal training from qualified Six Sigma consultants who have extensive experience in training and implementation of Six Sigma. Specific training in Six Sigma DMAIC andor DFSS methodology is often requested. The best teacher is, of course, experience and organizations will strongly prefer, if not insist, on people who have completed at least one Six Sigma project.

In addition to possessing Six Sigma training and project experience, organizations will ask that you have experience working in the industry of the organizations business. So if the company is a manufacturer, they will usually want you to have direct experience in a manufacturing environment. Organizations will ask that you have a certain minimum period of experience (often five years) in that particular industry.

Management experience is a huge plus and will almost certainly be a requirement for a Six Sigma project team leader. Having on your resume proven project management success within a structured environment and being able to demonstrate good managerial skills will take you a long way. Thats because leading and facilitating Black Belts, Green Belts, and business teams through a Six Sigma project is often the role organizations are seeking to fill.

There are also essential personal skills. You need to be able to demonstrate a good understanding of processes and quality methodologies and a willingness to take an initiative and lead change. Another crucial skill is the ability to link strategy to execution. The aptitude to look beyond the surface and be creative to think conceptually about strategic business issues and develop creative but practical solutions is key.

Shall I Work Data Entry Jobs?

posted by Admin on Jan 16

People very widely as to whether or not they would want to work at home. Many have tried it and never went back, and others couldnt stand it or couldn’t be productive and went back to the “office” way of doing things. It really depends on what kind of a person you are and whether things like data entry jobs are for you.

Some people are self motivated, able to concentrate on the task at hand (whether it be eating a burger or doing data entry jobs) despite very accessible distractions, and are disciplined enough to make a regular schedule that allows them to be very productive while not allowing themselves to be imprisoned–never able to escape their job which is always right there. Others need a change of scenery, need extra motivation slash accountability that working with coworkers brings, feel isolated, or just don’t plain enjoy their house enough to be at home all the time. This is more of an old-fashioned–off to the factory–mentality.

How hard is it for you to do the normal things of life like go to the bank, doctor, etc.? If you are like most it is next to impossible because there are only so many personal days and the typical 40 hour week is inflexible and unyielding. You see there are too many amazing benefits that come with data entry jobs that allow you to work from home and flexibility is the most valuable one of them all. So first major benefit, you get to stay healthy and on top of your money.

Next benefit of this amazing flexibility is that you can take breaks when you
want to. When I say breaks I mean breaks as in vacations which are very necessary to your health as well. Think of it this way–working from outer space is almost the same as working from Europe (or data entry jobs, you choose!). Last major benefit is dress code, or lack thereof. Don’t get me wrong if you would rather work in a stiff white shirt and tie than luxurious soft sweat pants than you can!

Unfortunately only the first and not the second group of data entry jobs are able to enjoy the amazing and unique benefits of working at home that are there to take advantage of. So stop your boring job in the cubicle and get on board with the rest of us internet jockeys and work as you will. Fortunately, as this world becomes more linked globally through the wonders of technology, this second group of people (those who cannot work from home) is becoming the minority. You will wonder why you ever did it any different.

Seven Qualities to Get a Job You Want

posted by Admin on Jan 9

There are a lot of companies which are employing graduates with strong education background and fluency in several foreign languages. But will you agree that there are quite many candidates meeting the following requirements? How will human resource managers select from all of them? Here your personal and business qualities count. There are some essential features a person should possess to impress the interviewer and get the job.

You have graduated!!!! What a relief. You are free to manage your time as you wish. You dont have to think about your term paper topic for hours. You believe that all the difficulties are already behind. Partially it is so, but you still have to walk half of the way. It means that you should find a rewarding and challenging work to apply your education and develop yourself professionally.

I will list down a few.

Drive – energy and your desire to work. It is your attitude to work, your duties, and responsibilities. Of course you can approach your work formally, fulfilling your major duties with accuracy and on time. Surely, it is very important. But an employee with drive, the person who is enthusiastic and creative about his work is much more interesting for the potential employer.

Creativity – your ability to offer exceptional ideas and innovative methods. You have a goal and you are to achieve it. And you suggest your ways of reaching it. This quality is especially important for marketing, advertising, though of course it will present you to advantage in any sphere of business.

Result-oriented Can you always complete what you began doing? No matter what difficulties you have while working on it, you are to complete it by the deadline.

Resilience – A man was walking, stumbled and fell down, and then he shook himself off and went on further. For example, you are taking part in a group discussion of some urgent problem. The idea you suggested made everyone laugh and no one approved it. You got offended, went into your shell and stopped proving your point of view. Then your resilience is very low. You should be able to stand your ground.

Leadership – Employers hire a young specialist hoping that he has a great potential and in ten years time he will become a leader. Not everyone must be a leader and become a top manager afterwards. But a good manager, that is a person able to handle the organization of other people, is indispensable in any respectable company.

Team-commitment many companies have a project system of management. Several people are working on some project. The success of the project depends on each member of the team. What matters here is your ability to get on with different people, find common language with all the staff and feel like a united team. One for all and all for one. In any business a strong team is a pledge of successful fulfillment of the project. Communication skills are of primary importance for any sphere, as there is no area where we can do without communication. How to make others listen to you, how to present yourself, how to uphold your point of view. This is a mini list of essential communicative skills.

How can the employer know you have all these qualities? You will include them in your resume (e. g. mentioning that at college you were a group monitor and were involved in social activities). Give a brief and precise review of all your successful achievements in your resume. Dont get upset if you lack some of the qualities. As psychologists state you can develop all of them with the help of special exercises and trainings. Of course these qualities are significant not only for work, but of course for life in general. Remember, that we know what we are, but we dont know what we might be. Our resources are endless and thanks God that it is really so!
